The Independent Living in Scotland project (www.ilis.co.uk) has joined forces via SUSE with the Fife Employability Team (part of Adult Services (Resources) Social Work).  We are staging an event in Rothes Hall, Glenrothes on 9th December from 11.00 to 15.00.  The event is for disabled people who use (or who could use) employability services and for those who plan and manage these services.

The purpose of the event is two-fold. It will introduce coproduction, which is a way for communities and service providers to work jointly and to make better outcomes.  Coproduction is a bit of a buzz word just now, so it is important that communities and service providers have space to develop an shared understanding of what it really means, what is needed to make it work and what it could be used for.  This seminar will offer information and a space for dialogue and exploration. It will also be an opportunity for all those people who attend to start thinking about how coproduction could be applied to employability services and strategies in Fife.

I attach a flyer (for individuals) and a press release for websites and newsletters. I would be delighted if you could promote this event using these documents to your members, service users and relevant staff.

If you have any questions please do get in touch.

n.b. claim forms will be available for disabled people who need to reclaim reasonable travelling expenses (these need to be submitted with receipts).

The Commission’s inquiry into the human rights in home care for older people, shows nearly 500,000 older people receive essential care in their own home paid for by local authorities. For many, this care is not supporting the dignity, autonomy and family life which their human rights should guarantee. http://www.equalityhumanrights.com/legal-and-policy/inquiries-and-assessments/inquiry-into-home-care-of-older-people/

Our vision
A society built on fairness and respect. People confident in all aspects of their diversity.
