First World Presentations at the Mobility Roadshow 2008
Birmingham 05 June

Autoadapt proudly launch two completely new products at the 25th Mobility Roadshow: Carony Drive electric wheelchair, the first wheelchair specially designed for drivers, and Carony Drive LOC electrical tie-down system developed exclusively for the Autoadapt Carony Drive.

The Carony Drive is a power wheelchair with a seat that can be lowered down to the exceptional height of 14.5 in (37cm).
This makes it particularly suitable for individuals who whish to drive their vehicle from a wheelchair.
Carony Drive is crash tested, secured in the wheelchair lock Drive LOC, with a crash test dummy weighing 168 lbs (76 kg), as required by the ISO standards.

Enter the vehicle via ramp or wheelchair lift and drive onto the wheelchair lock, Carony Drive LOC, which is mounted on the vehicle floor.
Here the driver will be safely seated, fixed in a crash tested lock. A blue or red light on the operation board will indicate if the wheelchair has been properly locked.

“The steady wheelchair lock will keep you fixed without sway and make the driving as much of a pleasure as possible. If an emergency situation occurs, the lock can easily be opened by using the red emergency lever," says Don Beattie, Marketing and Sales at Autoadapt UK Ltd in Birmingham.

The Carony Drive LOC Tie-Down System together with the Carony Drive wheelchair are crash tested and approved with a CE-mark.

When lowering the wheelchair seat to its lowest height and the footrests will automatically move forward, thereby allowing a comfortable position for the legs while keeping the knees away from the steering wheel.
The wheelchair control unit can be lowered down and folded out of the way. This feature provides the free space needed for using the hand control for acceleration and brake.

The wheelchair seat itself is designed to be easily adaptable for your personal requirements.
A choice of smart accessories will help the driver acquire an enhanced comfort, such as removable back rest and seat cushions, comfort headrest, pressure relief seat cushions, lumbar support and side supports.

“The design of the Carony Drive is specifically made to demand as little space inside a vehicle as possible. The total width is only 24,5 in (62 cm), which even allows passage all the way to driver position in a lowered floor converted Renault Kangoo”, explains Don Beattie.

The Mobility Roadshow - 12th-14th June at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry - is the world's largest mobility event. In the stands of the Autoadapt UK Dealer Network will the Carony Drive and the Carony Drive LOC Tie-Down System, make its debut, spearheading the complete product line-up on display.
The Autoadapt dealer network in Great Britain and NI, as well as in Rep. of Ireland are very well developed, with about 80 companies that carry out individual car adaptations and conversions.

Toyota is out in force at the 2008 Mobility Roadshow displaying a dozen models for both static display and accompanied track test drives.
Mobility Roadshow visitors will get a close look at the host of Autoadapt product innovations in the Toyota stand MM7: Carolift - electrically powered wheelchair hoists, Carospeed hand control, Turny - passenger swivel seats, and Roof Spider - a storage box on the rooftop to transport a wheelchair.

At the Mobility Roadshow test route, Toyota offers the visitors the unique opportunity to test drive six Toyota vehicles adapted with mobility and accessibility solutions from Autoadapt, and their partners, as well as Toyotas own original equipment mobility products. This offer is made possible through the Autoadapt co-operation with Toyota Genuine Mobility Programme.
