Parking Restrictions within the pedestrian zone in operation within the High Street area in Dunfermline

Dear All,

As you will be aware there is a pedestrian zone in operation within the High Street area in Dunfermline. The only access to this area for vehicles is at Douglas Street from Pilmuir Street. At this point there is signing indicating the restriction and giving some allowances for blue badge holders and for commercial vehicles to enter. (Monday - Saturday Midnight - Noon and 3pm - Midnight)

It has been brought to our attention that these signs, which were put up many years ago, do not fully meet the restrictions laid down within the Traffic Regulation Order. To this effect we plan to replace these signs to fully reflect the restriction within the Order.

The restrictions which will apply once the new signing is in place will be as follows;

No vehicles may enter Douglas Street (and associated streets) at any time Monday - Sunday inclusive.
Vehicles displaying an appropriate blue badge or a commercial vehicle legitimately loading/unloading to a premises within the area may enter, although none of these vehicles are permitted Monday - Friday between Noon and 3pm (as it is currently signed).

This should provide a huge safety benefit for shoppers within the area on a Sunday, and also allow disabled drivers better opportunity to park within the area on a Sunday.

Kind Regards
